The Maritime and Port Security Information Sharing & Analysis Organization Adopts VirnetX’s Gabriel #Cybersecurity #Technology

January 22, 2018 By DefenseConference.com

The Maritime and Port Security Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (MPS-ISAO), advancing global maritime and port critical infrastructure cyber resilience via sharing of cyber threat intelligence and coordinated response, announced today their adoption of the VirnetX Gabriel Collaboration Suite to enable and sustain trusted and secure bi-directional communications command and control of data transmissions between the MPS-ISAO and MPS-ISAO members and intelligence partners.

Global security and prosperity is dependent upon a safe, secure and resilient infrastructure moving people, manufactured and agricultural goods, healthcare products, bulk energy and retail products throughout the maritime and port ecosystem. Cyber technology and computer systems are essential to the operation and efficient functioning of worldwide maritime and port operations, expanding beyond physical aspects of security and safety. Operationalizing and sustaining cyber resilience, moving from a reactive to a proactive stance, is dependent upon greater information exchange.

Maritime and port critical infrastructure

As the ISAO for the nation’s maritime and port critical infrastructure, the MPS-ISAO provides a globally trusted and secure collaborative technology infrastructure to operationalize and sustain cyber resilience via greater information sharing of public and private sector and cross-sector threat intelligence and countermeasure solutions supported by coordinated response and adoption of best practice.

“As cyber threats and attacks continue to increase in frequency, severity and sophistication, the ability to share sensitive cyber threat intelligence and all-hazard information securely in real-time is critical to enable protections for the maritime and port sector,” said Christy Coffey, MPS-ISAO Executive VP of Operations. “The MPS-ISAO applies US-CERT’s Traffic Light Protocol to manage sensitive information sharing and member collaboration. Gabriel’s military-grade peer-to-peer encryption ensures that the MPS-ISAO’s trusted voice, mail, messaging and file sharing communications are seamless, secure and protected on a private and secure domain, invisible to third parties.”

“The MPS-ISAO has a crucial role supporting the cybersecurity protection and defense of global maritime and port stakeholders,” said Kendall Larsen, VirnetX CEO and President. “We are committed to providing the MPS-ISAO and the Maritime and Port critical infrastructure with the most reliable secure communications.”
