The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Selects Box to Power Digital Workplace Initiatives

June 6, 2018 By DefenseConference.com

Box, Inc. (NYSE:BOX) today announced that the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), an agency of the United States Department of Defense responsible for pivotal investments in breakthrough technologies for national security, has selected Box’s cloud content management platform to deliver secure collaboration agency-wide and with external research partners. With Box, DARPA is continuing to innovate how the agency powers its research and development mission, while meeting strict security requirements and compliance standards.

“DARPA is the most impactful research and development organization in the world, having led the development of technologies such as the Global Positioning System, the Internet and many others,” said Sonny Hashmi, Managing Director of Global Public Sector at Box. “We are thrilled to support DARPA’s mission, helping to transform the way they manage research and development projects by empowering their workforce with more collaboration between internal and external stakeholders, all while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense Cybersecurity guidelines.”

“As technology continues to modernize digital workplaces, government agencies are increasingly seeing the need to adopt IT strategies that improve engagement with stakeholders, progress key initiatives and protect critical information,” said Stephanie Carullo, Chief Operating Officer at Box. “We are excited to partner with DARPA as the agency furthers its cloud strategy, creating a more agile, connected and productive environment for its global workforce.”

As part of its digital workplace initiatives to deliver collaboration between innovators inside and outside the government, DARPA selected Box to:

Create a trusted collaboration platform for DARPA’s ecosystem of partners;
Make it easy for employees and external parties to access, share and work on research projects and analyze findings together;
Further the DoD’s cloud strategy while enabling secure, mobile access to business critical resources; and
Provide IT with the security, controls and administrative insights needed to manage, govern and protect sensitive information.
Box is FedRAMP compliant and received Department of Defense SRG Impact Level 4 Authorization by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Box makes it easy for more than 85,000 organizations around the world to share, access, and collaborate securely on their most important content. With today’s announcement, DARPA joins leading global organizations that have moved to Box to power new ways of working, including the Food and Drug Administration, Department of Justice, the District of Columbia Government, GE and Procter & Gamble.
